however, that from time to time individuals and organizations in the community may wish to contribute additional supplies or equipment to enhance or extend the instructional program.
The Board may accept by resolution duly passed at a public meeting any gift or grant of land with or without improvement, and of money or other personal property, except that the superintendent may accept on behalf of the Board any such gift less than $500.00 in value.
The Board reserves the right to refuse to accept any gift which does not contribute toward the achievement of the goals of the district or the ownership of which would tend to deplete the resources of the district.
Gifts from the Students Recycling Used Technology Program
The district may accept bulk donations of technology equipment without prior Board approval, only if the donation is intended exclusively for the Students Recycling Used Technology Program. Donations will only be accepted by the District Technology Coordinator and approved by the Board for use in the computer refurbishing program. Items received under this program may include, but are not limited to, used computers, monitors, modems, cables, memory modules, and computer boards.
Equipment received under the Recycling Program may not be taken by any employee and may not result in financial gain to any employee or student. Equipment may be distributed as determined by the superintendent within the district, to other Jefferson County municipalities, to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, to other districts or ESD's only through established agreements. Any equipment reconditioned under this program for academic or administrative use within the district will be added to the district's inventory for accountability.
Grants from Private Sources
The Board encourages the development of proposals to private foundations and other sources of financial aid for subsidizing such activities as innovative projects, feasibility studies, long-range planning, and research and development. All such activities are to meet the following criteria:
1. They are based on a specific set of internal objectives that relate to the established goals and objectives of the district.
2. They are to provide measures for evaluating whether or not project objectives are being or have been achieved.
3. The execution of all projects is to conform to state and federal laws and to the policies of the Board.
All grant proposals are to be approved by the Board before being submitted to the funding agency. The superintendent shall establish administrative guidelines for the processing of proposal ideas to the Board for its approval.
