Public Engagement and Communications Program
To govern, the Board assures that:
1. Visitors are permitted on school premises when presence is for constructive, not disruptive purposes and school officials are aware of their visit;
2. Visitors are encouraged to attend public school events when the event is publically announced and a public audience is appropriate;
3. Visitors (including parents) may attend open practices and/or rehearsals. School authorities may restrict or ban any disruptive participation by public persons including parents;
4. Visitors must remain in the designated seating or audience areas at all times during public events. Parents and public individuals are prohibited from locker rooms, dressing rooms or any areas where students and instructors are preparing before, during or after an event. Exceptions may be granted by the school authorities on a specific need basis;
To enforce Policy, the Board requires that:
1. Visitors in the school buildings during the school day shall first report to the office and arrange to conduct their business;
2. Visitors must have a reason or relationship involving custody of or parental responsibility for a student to be present at school or on school grounds. Visitors without such reason or relationship may be asked to leave the school premises.
