Infection Control - HIV, AIDS, HBV
The Board recognizes its responsibility to safeguard the health of all students and employees and to respect the individual employee's rights to confidentiality. Further, the Board accepts the Oregon Health Division guidelines which state that:
1. As a general rule, HIV related diseases are transmitted through intimate sexual contact or through certain bodily secretions and is therefore not generally believed to be communicable by ordinary social contact;
2. As a general rule, employees with HIV related diseases should not pose a health risk to other employees or to community members;
3. As a general rule, employees with HIV related diseases should be allowed to continue employment.
Further, the Board directs that governing Oregon statutes and Oregon Health Division guidelines should be followed when developing rules/procedures.
The Board herein authorizes the development of rules and procedures to govern situations, arising from employees with AIDS, HIV or Hepatitis B.
