Recognizing that emergencies may arise, the rules and procedures will direct health emergencies:
1. Emergency procedures and vital information shall be posted in health rooms and by telephones. All school personnel shall be regularly made aware of these procedures and demonstrate ability to act as need arises;
2. The School Emergencies Manual shall be used for sickness and accidents and require one must be in each health room;
3. A current list of school personnel with valid First Aid cards shall be posted in all health rooms;
4. Health facilities shall be used only for the immediate care of ill or injured students or staff;
5. Students who show signs or symptoms of illness shall:
a. Be assisted to the health room;
b. Be made as comfortable as possible;
c. Be placed under adult supervision;
d. Remain in the health room while school administration and parent are notified;
e. Be taken home after arrangements are made.
6. Each student shall be required to fill out and return authorization for emergency medical care, to be filed, and available at all times;
7. In case of emergency care, physical, mental, or dental, the student will be taken to a physician listed and the parent or guardian is responsible for payment;
8. Epinephrine kits for treatment of bee stings and other systemic allergic reactions will be made available to trained staff. Epinephrine kits will be accessible in high risk areas such as but not limited to: health rooms, offices and areas where students participate in athletic, J.R.O.T.C., and forestry activities.
9. H.I.V. packets and eye wash kits shall be available at appropriate locations as determined by the principal.
