Pregnant and/or Parenting Teens
The following guidelines shall be followed when considering the schooling for pregnant and/or parenting students:
1. A student identified as being pregnant or parenting shall be referred to a school counselor and/or the Teen Parent Program instructor.
2. The Teen Parent Program instructor shall meet with the student to explain services available as outlined in the student’s individualized plan.
3. The school counselor or Teen Parent Program instructor will assist the pregnant/parenting student with preparing a schedule that supports the student’s education, considering a possible tutoring absence of up to 6 weeks postpartum.
4. A copy of the individualized plan will be mailed home to the student’s parent/guardian when the student has notified the parent of the pregnancy.
