The Board is dedicated to student attainment of educational goals; therefore, maternal or paternal status shall not affect the rights and privileges of students to receive a public education. However, the Board believes that because pregnancy may force responsibilities on students that create conflicts toward attainment of educational goals, students should avoid pregnancy. Students are required to obey all rules of conduct and to cooperate in maintaining an educational atmosphere in the school.
The Board believes that the pregnant student, parents, and counselors should plan with medical consultation to provide the student continuing schooling in so far as conditions of health permit.
No student shall be excluded from an education solely for being pregnant. Pregnant students may remain in the regular school program to continue schooling, receive counseling, and other appropriate and available special services. When conditions warrant, modified schedules, part-time enrollment, home tutoring or other available special services may be offered.
The district will facilitate provision of such services as counseling, life skills, parenting education, child care, transportation, career development and health and nutrition services to pregnant and parenting students.
The District will inform pregnant and parenting students and their parents of the availability of resources provided by other agencies.
