JFCI -AR - Substance Abuse Intervention

Substance Abuse Intervention

 

To effectively implement Board policy on substance abuse intervention, the following statements of rules and procedures shall apply:

1. Any enrolled student may apply for and receive intervention assistance;

a. District staff, parents or guardians may refer students.

b. Referrals shall be made by written application signed by both the parent or guardian and the student.

c. Intervention activities will be following approval appropriate intervention officer.

d. Students may be granted one initial interview without formal approval.

2. Any enrolled student may apply for intervention assistance whether or not a violation has occurred under the Student Conduct and Discipline Policy;

3. Assistance under this policy may be combined with disciplinary action and/or follow disciplinary action;

a. When combined with disciplinary action, students may apply for discipline adjustments following satisfactory progress in the assigned intervention activity.

b. Principals may adjust or reduce disciplinary action at their discretion whenever the student makes satisfactory progress in the assigned intervention activity.

c. Principals may reinstate, wholly or in part, any disciplinary action when the student fails to make satisfactory progress in the assigned intervention activity.

4. Intervention activities will be developed in each building appropriate to the age and developmental level of the students.

a. Cooperation with outside agencies such as the Treatment Center, Warm Springs Drug and Alcohol Treatment Department, Children’s Services Division, Jefferson County Health and Mental Health Department is authorized and expected.

b. Appropriate funding from grants may be used to implement intervention activities and advance cooperation between agencies.
