Interscholastic Athletics
The Board believes that athletics are an important part of the entire school experience. The district will provide comparable interscholastic athletic competition for male and female students in a variety of sports. The district is a member of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA). The Board will adhere to the policies, rules and regulations of OSAA and the State Board of Education. Students or employees in violation of OSAA rules and regulations may be subject to discipline. Administrators, coaches and students will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the letter and spirit of district and OSAA policies, rules and regulations and the fundamental values of sportsmanship.
Because involvement is voluntary and many students elect not to participate, the cost of these programs should be shared. The Board therefore directs the administration to develop rules and procedures to collect participation fees for all school athletics.
