Curriculum Guides and Course Outlines
The Board believes that each student has a right to a comprehensive K-12 curriculum that includes:
1. The common curriculum goals, as adopted by the State Board of Education; and
2. The academic content and performance standards as approved by the State Board of Education in English, mathematics, science, social sciences, the arts, English as a second language and second languages.
The Board directs the district to implement program planning and instruction which incorporates the common curriculum goals and the academic content and performance standards identified by the state Board of Education. Program assessment and reporting of progress in all academic areas to students, parents, and patrons shall be based on, but not limited to, instruments and/or strategies used to assess the common curriculum goals and the academic content and performance standards.
The Board further directs the district to supplement the State Board of Education's requirements by:
1. Requiring teachers to administer appropriate and ongoing assessments;
2. Gathering the State Board of Education’s prescribed work samples; and
3. Awarding Certificates of Initial and Advance Mastery.
