GD-AR - Reclassification of Classified Employee Positions


 

Reclassification

1.1 An employee or supervisor may originate a request for reclassification to a higher or different classification.

 

1.2 The request for the reclassification must be in writing utilizing the reclassification application, must detail the reason(s) why the reclassification is considered to be justified, and must indicate the source of funding.

The completed application must include the following:

Classified Position Reclassification Request Form (including supporting documents)

Current District Job Description

Proposed District Job Description

Job Analysis Questionnaire

1.3 The Human Resource Department will officially notify your supervisor of your reclassification request and ask him/her to complete a job analysis supervisor form.

1.4 The request shall be reviewed by the Human Resource Director or his/her designee to make sure the application is complete. The proposed classification change will be presented to the district reclassification review team.

1.5 The committee will issue a written response to the petitioner(s) within 30 days of the committee’s initial review. In the case of a denial, the committee will issue a written rational for the decision made.

2. New Classification

2.1 A supervisor may originate a request for a new classification.

2.2 The request for the reclassification must be in writing utilizing the reclassification application; must detail the reason(s) why the new classification is considered to be justified; and must indicate the source of funding.

The completed application must include the following:

a. Classified Position Reclassification Request form (including supporting documents).

b. Current district job description

c. Draft of proposed job description

d. Employee Job Analysis Questionnaire

2.3 The request shall be reviewed by the Human Resource Director or his/her designee to make sure the application is complete. The proposed new classification will be presented to the District reclassification review team.

2.4 The committee will issue a written response to the supervisor within 60 days of the committee’s initial review. In the case of a denial, the committee will issue a written rational for the decision made.

3. Classification Review Team

Members of the Classification Review Team shall include:

3.1 Superintendent

3.2 Human Resources Director

3.3 Chief Financial Director

3.4 Curriculum Director

3.5 Special Programs Director

3.6 Employee’s Supervisor

3.7 Classified Employee Representative
