Licensed Staff Positions
The teacher shall follow curriculum guides and courses of study as authorized by the district.
The teacher shall prepare daily lesson plans according to building procedures.
The teacher shall prepare classroom presentations appropriate to the subject and grade level being taught.
The teacher shall be concerned with the classroom physical environment as determined by temperature, comfortable furniture, adequate lighting and cleanliness.
The teacher shall provide instruction in a classroom atmosphere free from social, religious, racial bias and prejudice.
When absent, it is the duty of the regular teacher to provide the following for the substitute teacher:
1. adequate lesson plans prepared and available for the substitute teacher;
2. a seating chart available for the substitute teacher, if assigned seating is required;
3. class books, textbooks, workbooks, and other materials available for the substitute teacher’s use.
4. Other materials as specified in the building staff handbook.
The teacher shall provide instruction for students with special needs as appropriate.
Non-teaching Responsibilities
The teacher shall assume extracurricular responsibilities as approved by the Board.
Teachers shall assume building duty assignments as determined by the school principal or designee.
Professional Growth Responsibilities
The teacher shall attend in-service education as required by the district.
The teacher shall cooperate with the district and sponsoring colleges in approved intern plans.
Teachers are encouraged to contribute to educational research and professional literature.
Teachers are encouraged to attend statewide in-service, optional training, or in-services related to their classroom assignments at the direction of the school administration or as allowed by the negotiated agreement.
