JCSD Policy

The Board discourages the use of privately owned vehicles to transport students, but recognizes there

will be needs which require such use. The Board requires that requests to use privately-owned vehicles be approved by the superintendent or designee. Both drivers and vehicles shall be approved prior to any transport. In no case will the use of a private vehicle to transport students constitute the "primary" use of that vehicle.

No staff member will use a private vehicle for district business, including the transportation of students, without approval in accordance with established district procedures. Authorization to use a private vehicle must be obtained before actual use of the vehicle. Staff members who are authorized to use a private vehicle on district business will be reimbursed in an amount established by the Board.

At least two staff members must accompany a student being transported in a private vehicle.

The Board directs the superintendent to provide the necessary rules and procedures to effectively govern special vehicles in compliance with OAR 581-053-0002(1) through OAR 581-053-0545.
