Heating and Cooling

 

The following standards for heating shall be applied in accordance with Board policy ECF - Energy Conservation:

Maximum Heating Temperature:

Elementary classrooms, 72 degrees F.

Secondary classrooms, 70 degrees F.

Areas where physical activity is dominant, 68 degrees F.

Areas where sedentary activity is dominant, 70 degrees F.

The following standards for cooling shall be applied in accordance with Board policy ECF - Energy Conservation.

Minimum cooling Temperature:

All district facilities, 78 degrees F.

(Room temperature must reach 78 degrees before cooling system is activated).

Building principals and/or supervisors may request waivers to the above standards where special conditions or needs exist. The superintendent or his designee may consider the criteria in Board policy ECF - Energy Conservation to grant any waiver to the above standards.
