Energy Conservation
The Board believes that district buildings and facilities should be heated and/or cooled according to standards that recognize the need to conserve energy and to provide adequate comfort for productive learning and working. The standards shall be applied to maintain a productive, healthful working and learning environment while avoiding any excess use of energy. The criteria for determining appropriate energy use will be:
1. Age of occupants
2. Type of activity (quiet reading vs. physical education)
3. Nature of work (typing vs. heavy physical labor)
4. Safety factors
5. Health factors
The administration, in consultation with the district maintenance supervisor, is authorized to develop and apply standards for heating and cooling for all district buildings and facilities. It is the responsibility of district administrators to implement, direct, monitor, evaluate and report district energy conservation efforts.
