Administration of Title IX

 

In order to meet the requirements of the Title IX of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Public Law 93-638 (Indian Preference) and related rules and regulations, the district will maintain or establish the following procedures:

1. Preference for training and employment under the program will be given to Indian applicants;

2. Indian organizations and enterprises will be given preference in the award of contracts in connection with administration of the grant;

3. Monthly parent committee meetings will be held during the school year at Warm Springs for the purpose of project planning, budgeting and evaluation;

4. At least one annual public meeting will be held at Warm Springs to discuss the project and the proposed budged for the ensuing year;

5. The parent committee’s proposed budget shall be subject to Board approval and will only include requests for funds which would provide supplemental educational programs for Indian students. In no case will Title IX funds be used to supplant funds for activities normally operated by the district;

6. Parent involvement in Title IX will be actively sought by the district by:

a. Giving wide dissemination to this policy;

b. Placing notices of meetings in local newspapers;

c. Maintaining a parent advisory committee;

d. Providing tribal education authorities with regular opportunities to discuss plans and programs;

e. Annually assessing the needs of Indian students;

f. Giving meaningful consideration to comments and recommendations received from the Indian community.
