Superintendent Evaluation

Goals

The superintendent will develop annual goals in cooperation with the Board based on the needs of the district. The superintendent will submit goals for review which the Board may accept and/or amend.

Time Line & Process

The superintendent will provide the Board with a progress report on his/her goals prior to annual evaluation.

The Board will provide the superintendent a written evaluation annually no later that March 31st.

The superintendent will submit personal goals for Board review each year by August 30th.

Any time the superintendent performance is deemed unsatisfactory, the superintendent will be notified in writing of specific areas to be remedied and will be given an opportunity to correct the problem(s). If performance continues to be unsatisfactory, the Board may dismiss the superintendent pursuant to Board policy, the employment contract with the superintendent, Oregon law, and Oregon Administrative Rules.

Evaluation Format

Board members will be provided a checklist which includes the superintendent’s goals and job description during the meeting in which the superintendent reports on his/her personal goals. Each Board member will complete an evaluation checklist and submit it to the Board chair who will summarize the ratings on a single form for presentation to the superintendent no later than March 31st.

The superintendent will address areas of concern in the evaluation through the goals presented to the Board during the August goal-setting session with the Board.
