Board-Staff Communications
Communications to the Board – Written communications from citizens to the Board shall be addressed to the Board in care of the superintendent. Citizens may present any matter of concern directly to the Board under the hearing of delegations section of any regular meeting. The chair reserves the right to limit the length of all presentations or to reschedule them in order to facilitate the Board completing its regular business. Except by unanimous approval, matters presented under the Hearing of Delegations section of a meeting shall not be acted upon at the meeting where presented, but may be made a matter for a future agenda. The superintendent shall provide copies of all written communications to the Board.
Board-Staff Communications – The Board believes that open channel of communication are imperative between itself and the staff. Specific communications or reports to the Board from principals, teachers, or other staff members shall be submitted through the superintendent. However, staff members are welcome to attend Board meetings and address the Board under the Hearing of Delegations agenda item. This procedure shall not replace any communications or complaint procedures established by collective bargaining.
The Board will direct communications to the staff through the superintendent.
Visits by individual Board members to schools shall not be construed as supervisory inspections. Official visits by the Board will be arranged with full Board authorization and with prior notice to the staff.
The Board directs the administration to maintain open channels of communication with all staff through regular meetings, information bulletins, and personal conferencing.
